Chow Luk F00k, a popular jeweler in Hong Kong and the mainland has sparked outrage by forcing a female shop keeper to strip down to her skin and cover her nipples with diamonds just to boost up sales. And this is not the first time the company has pulled promotional stunts such as this. For the opening of a store in Shenzhen in 2013, women’s bodies were painted in multiple colours.
Footage from the incident shows a woman wearing diamond nipple pasties to help sell some jewels. The video has caused outrage from social media users upset with the way the woman was used to parade the store’s goods.
The camera footage zooms around the woman who is wearing painted diamonds plastered over her nipples, one colored blue, and the other red. As the camera pans around the employee, she looks visibly awkward and embarrassed as she stands behind the counter.
Members of the public can be seen in the shopping centre walking past her and looking for jewellery in the cabinets surrounding of the half naked woman.
The video has outraged many people on Facebook who thought the stunt was inappropriate. One user commented: ‘The shop owner should be ashamed.’ While another said: ‘So pathetic. Its sale are so poor that it can’t even afford buying uniforms for staff.’ And one user wrote: ‘It will possibly create a counter effect.’
